It is located on the northern area of the island, with a surface area of 8,73 Km 2, at an altitude of 9 m, with a population of 31 830. It is 37 Km from Santa Cruz de Tenerife by road.

To the west, it limits with Los Realejos and the rest of its border is with La Orotava. To the north, it encounters the sea, with a coast of cliffs that has been modified by the tourist and recreational facilities.
